TJMC - STATE CHAMPIONS - 2008

USSBA State Finals at Salem VA

A fitting and crowning finale for a great year for TJMC - They swept their division winning on all categories and are crowned STATE CHAMPIONS at the USSBA State Finals at Salem Stadium in Salem, VA.

Congratulations to all the hard work by TJMC students. You all truly deserved the honors.

Congratulations and thanks to Ms. Ulrey, Mr. Steve Ballard and Ms. Samantha Lee and their colleagues behind the scenes for all their hard work.

THANKS to all the band parent chaperones who have dedicated so much of their time and tirelessly helped in the band activities - home games, away games, competition trips and booster activities - all through the year.

"TJHSST Band Boosters Mourns the Passing of a member"

Rae Ann Murashige

Rae Ann Murashige, a dedicated and hardworking volunteer of TJHSST Band Boosters, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2008. She and her husband, Allen, have been very active members of TJ Band Boosters for 8 years while their children, Lance and Danielle, attended TJ. Rae Ann has left her mark by her great dedication to the band. Those of us who have had the fortune to work with her can attest to her enthusiasm and dedication. She has participated in many Band Booster activities. Special mention must be made of her efforts in Citrus Fundraising, which she organized and ran with great efficiency.

Here is an excerpt from a message from Allen Murashige to us:

"To extend Rae Ann's spirit and dedication in supporting the fine music program at TJ that we all enjoyed, we are asking that in lieu of flowers for her service, donations be made in her memory to the TJHSST Band Boosters, via Henry Ruempler. It was Rae Ann's wish that the band programs can continue to provide a well rounded education for the bright students at TJ, as it did for our two kids."

If you wish to send donations, please make your check payable to "TJHSST Band Boosters", with "Rae Ann Murashige" in the memo line, and send the check to Mr. Henry Ruempler, 5415 Waycross Dr, Alexandria, VA 22310

The Band Boosters are forever grateful for the generosity of the Murashige family.

Current Fundraisers

  • Virtual Tag Day: Virtual tag letters were mailed last week to all current band families who haven't already made a donation this year. Your generosity will help keep fees down, making our quality band program more affordable for all families. Check to see if your employer will match your donation. Download letter from here ; you are encouraged to send or give copies to relatives, neighbors, or friends who might be interested in contributing. Donations can be sent to Henry Ruempler, 5415 Waycross Dr, Alexandria, VA 22310.

  • License Plate Frames: Order from TJBB either a TJ class year frame or customize your own license plate frame. Pictures and details are available here .

  • Legacy Seal Order: It's not too late to order a legacy seal label for your marching band uniform jacket this year. A legacy seal helps your student to leave their lasting stamp on TJMC -- your student name and/or instrument and/or year of graduation will be added to the inside of your TJMC jacket. A sample label will be displayed in the curricular band classes within the next few weeks. Download order form here.

  • Let's Dish! : is an easy and fun way to get healthy, homemade dinners on your table - and raise funds for TJ's Bands at the same time! The prices are reasonable too. Feel free to make arrangements with your Band Booster friends to try it out together. Some Band Booster parents who tried it out last year keep going back. Detailed instructions available here.
